THE Narcotics Cell of Customs Preventive Unit of Pune Customs Commissionerate has seized 272 kg ganja from four persons at Shirur on Wednesday. The arrested are Shaikh Kadir Shaikh Mainuddin (26), Imran Inamdar Abdulla (28), both from Beed, K. Raju (20) of Andhra Pradesh and Satish Kadam (24) of Ahmednagar.
A team of narcotics cell nabbed Mainuddin, Abdulla and Raju in a jeep at Nhavare Pahata in Shirur around 2.45 pm and a total of 272 kg ganja, worth Rs 4 lakh, was seized from them. The Narcotics cell also nabbed Kadam who came to the spot to pick the ganja. "In the last three months, the Narcotics Cell has arrested 12 persons in six cases and seized 756 kg ganja and 4 kg charas," said R Shekhar, Pune Customs Commissioner.
The investigation team include assistant commissioner S B Shinde, superintendents D B More, B D Kudal, B R Samad, inspectors Satish Kulkarni, Ajay Singh, Rajesh Shirolkar and sepoys Chand Mulani, A A Pawale, D N Shinde.
