The state government has roped in superstar Amitabh Bachchan to spread the message against liquor and tobacco addiction through ad films on TV channels and theatres.

The superstar has agreed to work free of cost for the cause.

Shivajirao Moghe, social justice and de-addiction activities minister, said that three films of 30 seconds each would be shot in next few weeks.

The government has sanctioned a fund of Rs91 lakh for the shooting of the ads.

"Salaam Bombay Foundation, an NGO working for the eradication of tobacco habits in school and college students, has conceptualised the ads."

Rajashree Kadam, project manager, Salaam Bombay foundation, said, "The deputy chief minister has assured us of the ads’ telecast, which will help us fight addiction in students."
