No Tobacco Day is celebrated worldwide as suggested by the World Health Organization to create awareness about the harmful effects of Tobacco usage among the public. As part of the World No Tobacco Day celebrations Lakheri Cement Works, Safety department has organized Poster, Poem and Slogan competitions for the employees on the subject harmful effects of tobacco.

On 31st May, 2008 “World No Tobacco Day” was celebrated in the Plant near Time Office by Safety department in which Mr. M. K. Mishra, Plant Head & Mr. N. K. Chhibbar (DGM – Tech) threw light on the WHO theme of the year “Tobacco – free youth: Break the Tobacco Marketing Net” & also mentioned the benefits of leaving tobacco and informed the employees to utilize the occasion for leaving this habit forever which will not only benefit the employee’s health but also bring happiness among their family members and Society as a whole.

Dr. B. M. Ghule, Mgr. Health Services delivered a speech on the importance of the Day and ill effects of consuming tobacco in various forms.

A Nukkad was presented by Transport department team for creating awareness about effect of Tobacco uses in youth.

Winners of the Poem & Slogan competition read out their poem & Slogan in front of the employees.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of Poster, Poem and Slogan competitions.

The celebration was a grand success with the co–operation of employees and motivated many to commit leaving the habit of tobacco usage.
