When we went on field, we identified a peer by the name of Yusuf bar who had a small drug–joint and whose family considered of his wife and one daughter.
After much follow up and counselling, his detoxification programme was arranged at parivartan vyasan mukti Kendra. After getting clean, he stopped selling drugs but had no work and source of income. All this frustration was again, driving him to criminal activities.
But after lots of motivation and speaking to him, it was observed that he could drive a rickshaw and he was helped to obtain one rickshaw to support himself and his family.
As he had many misunderstanding with his wife, she also asked to under–take counselling with the lady counsellors at parivartan vyasan mukti Kendra. She also under took counselling and visited the counsellor once a week.
Now his family’s life is more comfortable and they share better understanding among themselves. After observing that he was earning a decent living he was spoken on money+ time management and he understood it well. so a daily savings account, where he was to save Rs.50/daily,and open at SAHARA BANK in the name of his daughter.
This peers visits the D.I.C and parivartan vyasan mukti Kendra on regular daily basis and attends the group here and sometimes goes to the ‘AA’ fellowship. He now works as a PV and helps in the arrangement of ‘Awareness meetings’.
