Sources in the ATS said acting on a tip–off the ATS team laid a trap near Tarapur garden, close to the Oshwiara police station.
The police said the two were nabbed while they were waiting to deliver the contraband. During frisking the two, the police were surprised to find the identity card of Katharia, which said that he was a constable with the Haryana police.
The cops suspect that the cartel was involved in supplying drugs to a bigger mafia in the city. During interrogations, Katharia said he was bankrupt and had brought the contraband to sell it off in here. “He said that by selling the drug off, he would be able clear the loans his family had taken. We don’t believe him. Almost all the accused in drugs cases tell the same old story.” said a senior officer.
The duo has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotrophic Substance (NDPS) Act.
