Regional Training Programme on Drug Law Enforcement
UNODC ROSA's Project XSA/J81 prime mandate is to strengthen the drug law enforcement capacities in South Asia. The joint efforts with the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics (NACEN) of the Government of India, have resulted in regional training programs at various locations in India.

In continuation of the various activities being organized under the ambit of the project, a Regional Training Programme on "Drug Law Enforcement" was organized in Kolkata from 16 - 18 December 2008. Mr. Bhupinder Singh, Additional Director General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Kolkata, while addressing the participants at the inaugural function, gave an insight to the challenges associated with Drug Trafficking and the need to prioritize drug law enforcement to meet them.

Regional Training Programme on Drug Law Enforcement
25 participants representing various drug law enforcement agencies of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal were trained on various aspects of drug law enforcement.

A group discussion on drug trafficking trends was organized as part of the programme wherein, Mr. Om Prakash, Deputy Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau, India , Ms. Jagjit Pavadia, Narcotics Commisisoner of India and Mr. Sanjoy Mukherjee, Inspector General of Police, CID, Kolkata, India, participated as panel members. Group activities were organized to facilitate cross-fertilization of ideas among the participants. Mr. Anil Bhatnagar, Director General, NACEN, distributed the certificates during the valediction.
