Two recipients of the national award for Outstanding Services for Prevention of Alcoholism and Substance (Drug) Abuse are from the city. The award was recently conferred by President Pranab Mukherjee. Muktangan Mitra was felicitated for being the best regional resource and training centre, while Tushar Sampat, was awarded for outstanding individual achievement by a non-professional.
