The police now plan to take action against repeat offenders said Rajendra Dahale, deputy commissioner of police (cyber crime and the antinarcotics cell) on Wednesday.
Speaking to TOI, Dahale said, “The preventive action will deter them from committing the same offence in future. The police will take action against them under various sections of the law.”
Police chief Satya Pal Singh had recently directed the anti–narcotics cell to initiate a drive and take preventive action against drug offenders.
The anti–narcotics cell of the crime branch, Pune, has prepared a list of 28 peddlers who have been arrested in more than one case between 2005 and 2009.
The cell has circulated a list of suspects to all the police stations containing details about the offences committed by them.
