LUDHIANA: The members of Ludhiana
Retail Chemist Association (Youth) conducted a meeting on Sunday against drug
addiction that is spreading fast among the state youths. They appealed to the
government to stop manufacturing drugs that are being misused by the youngsters.
Along with their city counterparts, the activists from Raikot and Mullanpur were
also present at the conference.
Citing several drugs available in the
market that are not life-savers but are being misused as intoxicants by
youngsters, the chemists urged the government to impose a ban on their
manufacture and sale.. Submitting a memorandum to the deputy commissioner, they
said the habit-forming drugs are increasing the rate of drug
addicts.
“We are totally against the menace of drug addiction.
No retailer sells such drugs. If the government and health department finds out
any chemist who does so, we will completely support the administration in its
action against the accused,” said association president Amandeep
Ahuja.
