Three Drug Cartels Busted, Charas Worth Rs 1cr Seized

The anti–narcotic cell (ANC) of the city police has busted three major drug cartels which were smuggling charas from three states–MP, J&K and Amritsar in Punjab. The police claim to have seized around 200 kg of charas worth Rs 1 crore in the international market. Three heavy vehicles–a truck, Trax jeep and a Mahindra Xylo jeep–have been recovered.
In the first case, the Kandivli unit of the ANC–acting on the tip–off–laid a trap at Ashokvan bridge in Dahisar and cornered a Trax. "A search was carried out and 107 kg of charas was recovered. Four people have been arrested." said Himanshu Roy, JCP (crime).
During interrogation, they revealed that they were residents of Madhya Pradesh and were in the city to deliver the consignment to a few drug peddlers.
Similarly, the ANC unit of Bandra has arrested a gang of five which was smuggling charas from J&K. The police recovered 87 kg of charas from them.
Lastly, the team also arrested five men from Amritsar, who were carrying 28 kg of charas in a car.
