A doctor of a deaddiction centre in Shahbad Dairy has been arrested for allegedly beating one of his patients to death and injuring two other patients.
The incident was reported from Shahbad Dairy on Sunday night when the accused, identified as Sunil Dabbas, allegedly beat three patients brutally, resulting in the death of one of them, identified as Manjeet Rana.
"Rana had been admitted in the de-addiction centre last month as he was an alcoholic. On Saturday night, Dr Dabbas and two others allegedly beat Rana and two other patients identified as Mahaveer and Gurdeep brutally, resulting in Rana’s death. To cover up the incident, the accused allegedly disposed of the body of Rana in Bawana area.
Later, they claimed that Rana had run away and died somehow. However, on the basis of statements taken from the other two victims, we registered a case against Dabbas and two associates. The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem," said a senior police officer.
The other two accused are on the run, said police. A case has been registered.
