A support group is meant to be a tool to be used in one’s recovery. But then you have to use that tool. The support group cannot do your recovery for you. That is something only you can do. A support group can of course give you a comfortable environment to try out your newly learned skills which have been nurtured by the experience strength and hope which others in the group have shared.
Please do not be hasty in reaching any conclusions. A support group works. You only have to allow it to work in your life. Don’t be put off by anything you do not like or agree with. Take what works . Very often, there will be times when you feel, “Its no use”. Or you will have an inner voice which will say, “I just cannot change” or “I don’t seem to doing it correctly”. Just ignore all these nagging voices. Just Keep Coming Back! Do not feel that your problems are different. A support group can definitely help in every case.
No doubt recovery is hard work–but then–are you not worth all that hard work? Remember it’s worth all the work. Don’t forget–You are precious to your loved ones, to your self and that you deserve to be so. Be kind to yourself and be patient. You are welcome to make suggestions. Please give us your valuable feedback. Only you can make this support group work.
Wishing you a joyful and wonderful recovery.
